Checklist: Student visa documents

Universities and UKVI look at overlapping but different documents, which is why students often translate the wrong half of their file. Your CAS proves the university has already accepted your qualifications; what the visa section still wants to read for itself is money, identity and, for younger applicants, consent.

Who this list is for

Turkish students holding a CAS from a UK licensed sponsor, applying from Türkiye. Applicants under 18 have two extra items at the end of the list. Documents already in English from the university, the British Council or an approved clinic are not repeated here.

The documents

• High school diploma (lise diploması) or degree certificate (lisans diploması) — whichever the course builds on. Translation into English required where the university asks to see the original evidence again or where the CAS lists it as a condition.
• Academic transcript (transkript) — all semesters, both sides of each page. Translated in full; Turkish grades and the 4.00 scale are reproduced, not converted into a UK classification.
• Examination results (YKS, YÖS or AYT sonuç belgesi) — where the offer refers to them. e-Devlet output is fine.
• Bank statement or savings certificate (banka hesap dökümü) — the funds must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days ending shortly before you apply. The statement has to show your name, the account number, the date and the balance, and every page is translated so those fields are legible in English.
• Sponsor or scholarship letter — from a parent, YTB, a ministry or an employer. If it is written in Turkish it needs translating, together with the sponsor's bank statement and a letter of consent to use the funds.
• Relationship evidence where a parent funds you — a vukuatlı registry extract or birth certificate linking you to the account holder. Translation required.
• Parental consent (muvafakatname) — under 18s only — signed by both parents before a Turkish notary, covering travel, care arrangements and accommodation. Translated in full, notarial endorsement included.
• Student certificate (öğrenci belgesi) — if you are moving between courses or need to explain a gap in study.

What people most often get wrong

Bank statements cause more trouble than everything else combined. Screenshots from a banking app, statements without a branch stamp, and balances that dip below the required figure inside the 28-day window are all routine refusal grounds, and no translation can repair them. Transcripts come second: students send the front page of a multi-page record, or a version printed without the grade legend on the reverse. Finally, a muvafakatname that names only one parent will be questioned where the registry extract shows two living parents.

What we would translate and what it would cost

A school-leaver going to a foundation year: lise diploması (1 page), transkript covering four years (3 pages), one bank statement set (2 pages), a parental sponsor letter (1 page) and a muvafakatname (2 pages). Nine pages at £10.00 is £90.00 with certification included and no UK VAT. Because appointments and CAS deadlines cluster in July and August, order early: fast delivery would take the same file to £144.00, and economy at £72.00 is the better use of money if you plan a month ahead.
