The route in 2026 and where translation fits

A Skilled Worker visa needs a certificate of sponsorship from a licensed UK employer for a job at the required skill level. Since 22 July 2025 that level is RQF 6 (degree level) for most new applicants, with a general salary threshold of £41,700, subject to exceptions for shortage roles and lower going rates. The employer handles the sponsorship side in English. What you supply personally is where Turkish documents appear: the passport, evidence of savings unless the sponsor certifies maintenance, a criminal record certificate for certain jobs, qualifications where the role or the regulator asks for them, and the family documents of any partner or child applying with you. Everything in Turkish goes in with a certified translation.

The certification the Home Office describes

The Skilled Worker route does not carry its own translation paragraph in the way Appendix FM does; the applicable standard is the general GOV.UK guidance on certifying a translation, quoted in the box. The translator or translation company confirms in writing that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original document, dates it, and gives their full name and contact details. Our certification says exactly that, with the signature of the person responsible and the company’s registry details, on every page. No notary or apostille is involved in the translation itself.

The criminal record certificate

Applicants for jobs in a list of health, education and social care occupation codes, and their adult dependants, must provide a criminal record certificate from every country they have lived in for twelve months or more in the past ten years. For Türkiye that is the adli sicil kaydı, downloadable from e-Devlet in minutes, and it can be e-apostilled through the same portal. Advisers commonly recommend the apostille as well as the translation, and we translate the apostille page with the certificate. Two lines on the certificate matter and both must be rendered: the criminal record line (adli sicil kaydı) and the archive record line (arşiv kaydı). The Home Office expects a recent certificate, so obtain it shortly before applying rather than months in advance.

• Bank statements showing the maintenance funds held for 28 days, unless your sponsor has certified maintenance on the certificate of sponsorship.
• University diploma and transcript where the job or its regulator requires proof of the qualification, for example nurses, doctors, dentists and teachers.

Problems specific to Skilled Worker files

• An adli sicil kaydı translated from a screenshot with the verification code cropped off, so it cannot be checked.
• The archive record line omitted because it reads “none”, leaving the caseworker unsure whether it was checked.
• Bank statements that cover fewer than 28 consecutive days or end more than a month before the application.
• Diplomas translated from the English-language back page issued by some universities rather than the Turkish front, producing two different degree titles.
• Dependants’ documents translated after the main application was submitted, so the family file is incomplete.
