Cancellation and refunds
As a consumer you have 14 days to cancel. If you ask us to start within those 14 days, you pay for the work done up to the time you cancel, and the right ends once the translation has been delivered. Refunds are made within 14 days.
Your 14-day right to cancel
If you order as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, that is, the day you accept the quote and pay. You do not need to give a reason.
Asking us to start within the 14 days
Most customers need their translation before the 14 days are up. When you order, you can ask us to start straight away by ticking the box on the order page that says: I ask Hacettepe Translation to start work now. I understand that once the translation has been fully delivered I lose the right to cancel, and that if I cancel after work has started I pay for the work done up to that point.
This means:
- If you cancel after we have started but before the translation is delivered, you pay a proportionate amount for the work done up to the time you told us, and we refund the rest.
- Once the translation has been fully delivered, the service is complete and the right to cancel no longer applies.
- Third-party fees already paid on your behalf, such as Turkish notary fees, apostille fees and courier charges, are refunded only where the third party refunds us.
If you do not tick the box, we start work on day 15 and you keep the full 14-day right.
How to cancel
Tell us clearly that you are cancelling, before the 14 days end. You can:
- e-mail [email protected] with the subject line Cancellation and your order number
- send a WhatsApp message to +90 850 255 5 444 on WhatsApp
- use the model cancellation form below, by e-mail or by post to our Ankara address
We confirm receipt by e-mail without delay.
Refunds
We refund within 14 days of the day you tell us you are cancelling, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you. Where a proportionate amount is due for work done, the refund is the price paid less that amount, and we show you how it was calculated.
If the translation is faulty
Cancellation is separate from your rights when a service is not performed with reasonable care and skill. In that case, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 entitles you to repeat performance at no cost or, if that is not possible or not done within a reasonable time, a price reduction up to the full price. Our accuracy and acceptance policy explains how we handle errors and format rejections, and our terms and conditions set out the remedies in full.

Frequently asked questions
I ticked the start-now box an hour ago. Can I still cancel?
Yes, if the translation has not been delivered. You pay for the work done in that hour, which for a short certificate is usually nothing or a small amount, and we refund the rest.
Can I cancel after receiving the PDF?
No. The service has been fully performed. If the translation contains an error or is rejected for its format, use our accuracy and acceptance policy; correction and re-issue are free.
How long does a refund take to reach me?
We issue it within 14 days of your cancellation, usually within 2 working days. Banks and card issuers may take a few more days to show it.
I am a business. Do these rules apply?
The 14-day cancellation right applies to consumers only. Business customers can cancel before work starts at no charge; after that, work done is payable.
