What a certified translation is in the UK

The UK has no register of sworn translators. Instead, the translator or translation company confirms in writing that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original document, dates it, and adds their full name and contact details. That written confirmation is the certification. It is what the Home Office, HM Passport Office, UK ENIC, the GMC and the courts mean when they ask for a “certified translation”. Our certification statement is printed on company paper and carries the company name, our Ankara trade registry number, our address, the date, the signature of the person responsible for the translation and the sentence “a true and accurate translation of the original document”. Every page of the translation is numbered, stamped and cross-referenced to the original.

When you need one

• Visa, settlement and citizenship applications: any Turkish document you upload to UKVI, from a nüfus kayıt örneği (civil registry extract) to a bank statement or a divorce decree.
• A child’s first British passport with Turkish parents’ documents.
• Giving notice of marriage at a register office as a Turkish citizen.
• UK ENIC statements of comparability, UCAS and university admissions. Turkish is not on the ENIC translation waiver list, so a certified translation is always needed.
• GMC, NMC, GDC, GPhC and HCPC registration.
• Family court, probate, HM Land Registry and solicitors’ files.
• Banks, mortgage lenders, landlords, employers and insurers.

If you are applying for leave to remain or indefinite leave to remain under Appendix FM, the rules add a fourth item: certification by a qualified translator and details of the translator or translation company’s credentials. Our statement names the company, its registration and the person signing, which is the information that rule asks for. No notarisation is needed for UKVI applications.

How it works

1. Send a clear scan or phone photo of each document through the quote form or WhatsApp. Include every page, including the back where there are stamps.
2. We count the pages (1,000 characters of source text is one page), send a fixed price and confirm the delivery date. Tell us who will receive the translation so we can match the format.
3. A translator working into their stronger language translates; a second linguist checks names, dates, numbers and stamps against the original.
4. You receive a PDF with the certification statement, our stamp and signature on every page. Hard copies go by courier from Ankara or from a UK print partner.

What it costs

Turkish to English is from £10.00 per page; English to Turkish is from £6.50 per page. The certification statement is included; there is no separate “certificate fee” and no charge for the copy of the original that we attach. Economy service is 20% less with double the turnaround; express is 60% more with half the turnaround. No UK VAT is charged. Who accepts it

Our certified translations have been accepted to date by UKVI (visas, ILR and naturalisation), HM Passport Office, register offices, UK ENIC, UCAS, the GMC and NMC, family and civil courts, the probate registry, HM Land Registry, Companies House, HMRC, banks and employers. Acceptance always rests with the receiving body, so we quote its own wording where it has published one and we re-issue free of charge if a translation is refused on format. Limits

We are an Ankara-based company. We have no UK office, so there is no collection and our translators cannot appear before a UK notary public. If a body asks for a notarised translation, read notarised translation first: it is rarely required, and where it is we offer a Turkish notary route with apostille. We do not translate Formül A/B multilingual extracts differently from other Turkish documents; the UK is not a party to that convention, so the extract still needs a certified English translation.
