About our name
Hacettepe is a district of central Ankara whose name means "the hill of needs". It has been our registered trading name since 2008 and appears on every certificate we issue.
Hacettepe is a neighbourhood of Altındağ in central Ankara, a short walk from the old city. The name comes from hacet tepesi, "the hill of needs" — people climbed it to ask for what they needed. We have traded under the name since 2008, and it is the registered trading name of the company that issues every certified translation on this site.
Why an Ankara name on a UK-facing site
Because that is where the work is done. Our translators, our notary and our apostille counter are all in Ankara, and the certificate you receive carries an Ankara trade registry number. Naming the company after the district it works in is more honest than inventing a London-sounding brand for a company with no London office. Spelling and pronunciation
It is written Hacettepe in Turkish and pronounced roughly ha-jet-teh-peh — the c is a "j" sound. There are no Turkish-only characters in it, so it survives passport systems, bank transfers and application forms without transliteration problems, which is more than can be said for many Turkish names.
