Services Turkish ↔ English
Website and e-commerce localisation
Localisation of websites, online shops and marketplace listings into Turkish for the Turkish market and into English for the UK market: content, product data, legal pages, checkout and customer e-mails, with Turkish keyword research and in-context review.
Two directions, two markets
Into Turkish, for Türkiye. A UK brand selling to Turkish consumers needs more than translated product pages. Turkish shoppers expect prices in lira, instalment options at checkout, cargo tracking by SMS, and the legal texts Turkish distance-selling law requires on every shop: the pre-contractual information form (ön bilgilendirme formu), the distance sales contract (mesafeli satış sözleşmesi), a KVKK data-protection notice and cookie text, and the right-of-withdrawal wording. Marketplace listings for Trendyol, Hepsiburada or Amazon.com.tr have their own attribute fields and character limits. We localise all of it and flag where the UK terms and the Turkish legal requirements differ, so your lawyer knows what to check.
Into English, for the UK. Turkish manufacturers, hotels, clinics and online retailers entering the UK need British English rather than a translation of Turkish marketing conventions: shorter sentences, fewer superlatives, prices in pounds with VAT shown, delivery and returns pages that meet the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and a privacy notice that reads like a UK one. We rewrite where a literal translation would sound foreign, and we tell you when we have done it.
What gets localised
- Page content, navigation, buttons, error messages and form labels.
- Product titles, descriptions, attributes, size and care information; bulk product feeds in CSV or XML.
- Checkout, account, order and shipping e-mails, SMS templates.
- Legal pages: terms, privacy, cookies, returns, withdrawal forms.
- Blog and help-centre articles, FAQs, chatbot intents.
- Meta titles and descriptions, image alt text, URL slugs, structured data labels.
Turkish keywords and search
Turkish search behaviour differs from English: compound and suffixed forms, brand names spelt phonetically, and heavy use of marketplace search instead of web search. Before translating category and product names we research the Turkish terms people actually search for and use them in titles, headings and slugs. For UK entry we do the reverse with British spellings and terms (“trainers”, not “sneakers”). This is keyword-informed translation, not a full SEO service; we work with your SEO agency where you have one.
How a project runs
- Export: you send content from the CMS or shop platform (WordPress, Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, ikas, Ticimax, custom) as XLIFF, CSV, JSON or a spreadsheet, or give us access to a translation plugin.
- Glossary and style: brand terms, product names to keep in English, tone, formality (Turkish “siz” for retail).
- Translation with translation memory, so repeated product text costs less and stays consistent.
- In-context review on a staging site: truncated buttons, broken layouts and untranslated strings are caught before launch.
- Ongoing updates at a per-page rate as new products and posts appear.
What it costs
Websites are quoted per project after we analyse the export: word count, repetition, and how much is marketing copy needing adaptation versus catalogue data. As a guide, standard content is priced at our per-page rates (from £6.50 per page into Turkish, £10.00 into English, on 1,000 characters), catalogue feeds with heavy repetition considerably lower, and creative adaptation of home-page and campaign copy higher. In-context review is charged by the hour. No UK VAT is charged. For software, apps and games see software and game localisation; for very large catalogues consider machine translation post-editing for the long tail of product data.
Turnaround
A 50-page brochure site in about two weeks including review; a 2,000-product shop is scheduled in phases so you can launch categories as they are ready.

Frequently asked questions
Can you translate the legal pages a Turkish online shop must have?
Yes. We localise the pre-contractual information form, distance sales contract, KVKK notice and withdrawal wording from your UK texts and mark where Turkish law requires different content. A Turkish lawyer should approve the final versions.
Do you work directly in Shopify or WordPress?
Yes, through the platform’s translation export or a plugin such as WPML or Weglot, or through your developer’s XLIFF export. We do not need admin access to your live shop.
Is Turkish text longer than English?
Usually 15–20% longer, and single words can be much longer because of suffixes. Buttons, menus and product tiles need checking on a staging site; that is what in-context review is for.
Can you keep the site updated after launch?
Yes. New products and posts are translated at the per-page rate using the memory built during the main project, typically within two working days.
