Translations for UK ENIC statement of comparability

What the statement is and who asks for it

UK ENIC is the national agency for the recognition of international qualifications. Its Statement of Comparability says which level of the UK framework a foreign qualification compares to, and UK employers, universities, teacher-training providers and some professional bodies ask for it when they see a Turkish lisans diploması or lise diploması and cannot place it. The application is online: you upload your certificate and transcript, pay the fee plus VAT, and receive the statement as a digital document. ENIC publishes its current fees and processing times on its website. Before it can assess anything, ENIC has to read it, and that is where translation comes in.

ENIC’s translation requirement

ENIC requires certified translations of every document that is not in English. It offers a Translation Waiver Service, for an extra £40 plus VAT, under which its own staff read documents in 14 languages without a translation; Turkish is not one of the 14, so a Turkish applicant cannot use the waiver and must supply a translation. The requirement is summarised in the box with a link to ENIC’s own list of documents. The translation should be complete, carry the translator’s or company’s details, and be uploaded alongside a scan of the original. Our certification carries the accuracy statement, date, signature, company name, Ankara registry number and contact details on every page, and ENIC has accepted our translations to date. No notarisation or apostille is asked for.

Turkish qualification documents for ENIC

• University diploma (lisans, yüksek lisans or doktora diploması), the final award certificate.
• Transcript (not dökümü) covering every semester, which ENIC needs alongside the diploma.
• Diploma supplement, which many Turkish universities issue in English; if yours is in English it is an original and needs no translation.
• Graduation certificate (mezuniyet belgesi) where the diploma has not yet been printed; ask ENIC whether it will assess on that basis before you apply.
• Lise diploması and school transcript for a school-level statement.
• Vocational certificates (ustalık, MYK) for trade qualifications.

Course descriptions (ders içerikleri) are not needed for a Statement of Comparability; they matter for university credit transfer and for some professional bodies, and we translate them separately.

Why ENIC applications get delayed

• A diploma uploaded without the transcript, or a transcript with a semester missing.
• A temporary graduation certificate presented as if it were the diploma.
• Grades converted by the translator into UK classifications; ENIC does the comparing, so we render the Turkish scale (4.00 or 100) exactly as printed.
• A degree title turned into a UK title such as BSc, rather than kept as the Turkish award with a literal English rendering, which makes the document look altered.
• The applicant’s name on the diploma in a maiden form and on the passport in a married form, with no note.
• An e-Devlet graduation record uploaded without its verification code.

How we prepare ENIC translations

Send scans of the diploma (both sides), every page of the transcript and the diploma supplement if it is in Turkish. We translate the full text, keep Turkish award titles in brackets beside their literal English rendering, reproduce the grading scale and the university’s seals, and spell your name as in your passport with a note on any variant. A diploma is one page (£10); a transcript is usually 3–6 pages (£30–60); a Turkish-language diploma supplement 2–4 pages. Delivery is a certified PDF in 1–2 working days, which you upload to ENIC.
