Checklist: UK ENIC application

UK ENIC compares your Turkish qualification with the UK framework and issues a Statement of Comparability that employers, universities and regulators recognise. Its assessors read the documents themselves, so the translation is not a formality — it is the evidence.

Who this list is for

Holders of Turkish qualifications who need a UK comparison for a job application, a professional register, a Skilled Worker sponsorship or a postgraduate course. If your target is a regulated profession, check the regulator's own route first; several of them assess qualifications directly rather than through ENIC.

The documents

• Degree certificate (lisans, yüksek lisans or doktora diploması) — a clear scan of the certificate, both sides where anything is printed on the reverse. English translation required; the seal of the university and the Yükseköğretim Kurulu hologram are described in the translation rather than omitted.
• Academic transcript (transkript) — every semester, with the grade legend that usually sits at the foot of the last page. Translation required, marks reproduced on the Turkish scale.
• Diploma supplement (diploma eki) — where your university issues one. Many Turkish universities produce it in English already, in which case there is nothing to translate; send it as it is.
• Secondary qualification (lise diploması) — where the comparison is of a school leaving qualification, or where it is needed to show the entry route to the degree. Translation required.
• Graduation certificate (geçici mezuniyet belgesi) — acceptable while the parchment is being produced, and translated in the same way; replace it with the diploma when it arrives.
• Identity and name evidence — passport, and a name change decision or marriage certificate where the name on the diploma differs from the name on your application. Translation required for the Turkish document.
• Translation waiver — ENIC's waiver service, which lets assessors read certain documents without a translation, covers a short list of languages. Turkish is not among them, checked on 29 August 2026, so budget for the translation from the start.
• Apostille — not required by ENIC. It is a comparability service, not a legalisation authority.

What people most often get wrong

Applicants send the diploma alone. Without the transcript there is nothing to compare in terms of credit volume and level, and the application waits. The second error is a cropped scan: assessors need the full page, including the certificate number and the issuing body, and a photograph taken at an angle on a phone will be returned. The third is asking a translator to state a UK equivalent on the translation — no reputable translator will, because the whole point of the exercise is that ENIC decides it.

What we would translate and what it would cost

A four-year Turkish bachelor's degree: diploma (1 page), transcript covering eight semesters (4 pages) and a Turkish-only diploma supplement (3 pages). Eight pages at £10.00 is £80.00, certification included, no UK VAT, PDF within one to two working days. Where the supplement is already bilingual, the same file drops to £50.00. If you are also applying to a regulator or a university at the same time, tell us: the identical PDF can be used for all of them, so there is no reason to pay twice.
