A Turkish university confirms that a student has completed a programme some weeks before the diploma is printed. The document it issues in the meantime is the temporary graduation certificate (geçici mezuniyet belgesi), signed by the faculty secretary or the student affairs office (öğrenci işleri) and stamped. It states the graduate's name and student number, the faculty and programme, the degree level, the date of graduation and often the grade point average, and it usually carries a line saying it is valid until the diploma is issued or for a stated period. Some universities call it simply mezuniyet belgesi. Since university records were linked to e-Devlet, the graduate record (mezun belgesi) with a barcode gives the same confirmation and does not expire.

When a UK body asks for it
- UK universities. Turkish graduation is in June or July and UK postgraduate courses begin in September, so a conditional offer that requires proof of the degree often has to be met before the diploma exists. The temporary certificate with a certified translation is the usual way to meet the condition, and the university then asks for the diploma later. See translations for UCAS and university admissions.
- Student visa. Where the university lists the qualification on the CAS, the temporary certificate is what you hold at the time of applying.
- Employers and Skilled Worker sponsors who need proof of degree level for a start date that precedes the diploma.
- UK ENIC prefers the final diploma. Applicants who cannot wait have used the temporary certificate with the transcript, but ENIC's decision on whether to proceed is its own, and the diploma translation may be requested afterwards.
What the translation must contain
Universities, sponsors and the Home Office apply the gov.uk certification wording quoted below. Our certification page confirms that the translation is true and accurate, gives the date, and names the company with its Ankara Trade Registry number, address, contact details and signature; the certificate is attached as a copy.
The validity line is the point of attention on this document. We translate it exactly, including a date if one is given, because an admissions officer needs to know whether the certificate is still current. Where the certificate gives a grade point average, we keep the scale as printed, most often out of 4.00, and do not convert it to a UK classification; that assessment belongs to the university. The programme name is given in the English form the university itself uses, with the Turkish in brackets, so that it matches the offer letter.
Apostille and the diploma that follows
No apostille is needed for a UK university or employer, and a temporary certificate is rarely apostilled anywhere because it is replaced within months. When the diploma arrives, the university or regulator may ask for it. That is a separate document and a separate short translation at the same per-page rate; the certified translation of the temporary certificate remains valid for what it was, a record of graduation on a given date. The certificate is one page, so the certified translation is £10.00 with certification included and no UK VAT. Because it is almost always needed against a deadline, we treat it as a same-day job when the scan arrives before 11:00 UK time and you choose the fast option; otherwise it is delivered the next working day as a certified PDF. A transcript sent with it is priced by its own page count. A signed hard copy by courier from Ankara is £30; we have no UK office and cannot offer collection.

Frequently asked questions
Will a UK university accept the temporary certificate?
In our experience yes, to meet a degree condition before enrolment, with the diploma requested later. Each university sets its own policy, so check the wording of your offer.
The certificate says it is valid for six months. Does the translation expire with it?
The translation records what the certificate said on the day it was issued and does not expire on its own. Once the certificate's stated period has passed, the receiving body will want the diploma or the e-Devlet graduate record instead.
Can I send the e-Devlet mezun belgesi instead?
Yes. It confirms the same facts, has no expiry and carries a verification code. Universities and employers have accepted it with our translation.
Do I have to pay again when my diploma arrives?
The diploma is a new document, so a new certified translation is needed if the receiving body asks for it. It is one page at the usual rate, and we keep the terminology consistent with your earlier translation.
