Accountants and tax advisers
Turkish income, Turkish property and Turkish company interests all end up on a UK return eventually. The translation has to preserve figures, dates and tax terms exactly as they appear, because you will be relying on them.
What crosses an accountant’s desk
Foreign income disclosures bring vergi levhası and beyanname, rental income from Turkish property, and bank statements. Employment cases bring payslips and an SGK hizmet dökümü. Clients with a company in Türkiye send the trade registry gazette, the certificate of activity and annual accounts. In the other direction we translate HMRC documents — an SA302, a tax year overview, a National Insurance record — into Turkish for SGK borçlanma or for a Turkish accountant.
Numbers behave differently
Turkish uses a comma for decimals and a full stop for thousands, so 1.234,56 TL is one thousand two hundred and thirty-four lira and fifty-six kuruş. Dates are written 31.12.2025. Both conventions cause real errors when a document is skimmed rather than translated. We reproduce figures with their original separators and add the English convention alongside where ambiguity is possible, we do not convert currencies — the exchange rate and the date it is taken on are your decision, not ours — and we keep Turkish tax terms such as KDV, stopaj and geçici vergi with an English explanation rather than mapping them onto UK equivalents that carry different rules.
Deadlines and how we schedule
January is the pressure point for self assessment and Türkiye’s corporate calendar adds its own dates. Firms that expect volume in a particular month tell us in advance and we hold capacity; otherwise standard turnaround is one to two working days for short documents, with longer sets quoted from the file. Page rates, monthly invoicing and a single point of contact are arranged terms we agree with you in writing before the first job, with invoices in the practice’s name and no UK VAT charged.
Typical figures
Turkish into English is from £10.00 per 1,000-character page, certification included; English into Turkish is from £6.50. A vergi levhası is a single page at £10.00; a year of payslips is priced from the scan and usually falls between £60 and £120; a full set of Turkish annual accounts is quoted from the file because the tables carry a great deal of text. Certification is included by default, since HMRC and lenders often ask for it after the event and re-issuing later wastes everyone’s time.
Frequently asked questions
Do you convert Turkish lira figures into sterling?
No. We translate the document; the rate and the date applied are a professional judgement for you or your client, and a converted figure inside a translation would misrepresent the original.
Can you translate accounting software exports?
Yes, from Excel or CSV, keeping the structure. Send the file rather than a screenshot so the columns survive.
Does HMRC require a certified translation?
It asks for foreign documents to be accompanied by a translation, and certification is what makes clear who produced it. We include certification at no extra cost.
Can you handle year-end volume?
Yes, if we know in advance. Tell us the month and the expected page count and we reserve capacity rather than discovering it on the day.
