Translation is quoted by volume, and every company measures volume differently. This counter shows the same three numbers we look at, so you can check any quote — ours or anybody else's — against the text in front of you.
What the counter does
Paste your text and it returns characters including spaces, characters excluding spaces, words, and the number of translation pages that makes. It also shows what the same text would cost on a 250-word page basis, which is the convention most UK agencies quote on.
How the page unit works
Our page is 1,000 characters of source text excluding spaces, with anything shorter counting as one page and longer texts rounded up to the next whole page. Turkish is a more compact language in characters than English is in words, which is why counting characters gives a fairer figure in both directions than counting words does. As a rule of thumb, a Turkish birth certificate or a diploma is one page, a nüfus kayıt örneği one to three, and a transcript three to six.
What the result means, and what it does not
It is an estimate of the volume in the text you paste, not of the document you hold. Scanned documents contain text the counter cannot see: stamps, seals, handwritten margin notes and anything printed on the reverse all get translated and all count. That is why the confirmed quote comes after we have looked at your file. Once you have a page count, put it through the price calculator for a total.
Privacy
The counting happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, logged or transmitted, so it is safe to test with a real document — though there is rarely any need to paste more than a page to see how the arithmetic works. Frequently asked questions
Why count characters rather than words?
Because Turkish builds long words from suffixes, so a word count flatters Turkish source text and penalises English. Characters are neutral, and they are what the Turkish market has used for years, so quotes stay comparable in both directions.
How many of your pages is a 250-word UK page?
About one and a half to one and three-quarters, depending on the language and the text. That is why a document quoted at £30 per page elsewhere is not straightforwardly more expensive than one quoted at £10 per page here until you compare the volume — the counter shows both.
Can I count a PDF or a photograph?
Not with this tool, which works on text you can paste. For a scan, send it to us through the quote form and we will count it and reply with a fixed figure.
