How page and word counts work
We price by a fixed unit: one page is 1,000 characters of source text, excluding spaces, with a one-page minimum. Turkish to English is from £10.00 per page and English to Turkish from £6.50, certification included and no UK VAT charged.
The unit: a 1,000-character page
Translation pricing in the UK varies between agencies: some charge per word, some per “page” of 250 words, some a flat fee per certificate. We use the unit that Turkish translation has used for decades: one page equals 1,000 characters of source text, not counting spaces. Anything under 1,000 characters is rounded up to one page; after that, the count is rounded up to the next whole page. The count is made on the text of your document, including headings, stamps and annotations that we translate.
Why characters rather than words? Turkish is an agglutinative language: “evlerimizdekilerden” is one word and would be about six in English. Word counts therefore favour one direction and penalise the other. A character count treats both directions fairly and can be measured on the source before we start, so the quote is fixed.

What 1,000 characters looks like
- Roughly 140–160 Turkish words, or 180–210 English words, depending on the text.
- A UK-style “250-word page” of English is about 1.5–1.7 of our pages.
- A Turkish birth certificate or diploma: one page. A nüfus kayıt örneği: one to three pages. A university transcript: three to six. A divorce decree: four to ten.
Because most certificates fall under 1,000 characters, most certificate translations cost the one-page minimum: £10.00 from Turkish, £6.50 into Turkish.
What is and is not included
- Included: translation, second-linguist revision, certification statement, company stamp, PDF delivery by e-mail.
- Priced separately, shown on the quote: notarisation in Ankara (the Turkish notary's tariff passed through at cost plus a £5 service fee), apostille obtained in Ankara (£15), hard copy by courier (£30), FCDO apostille arranged through a UK partner (FCDO fee plus a service fee).
- Never charged: a per-certificate certification fee, a fee for a second e-mail copy, or a fee to answer a caseworker's verification query.
How we count
For a typed or e-Devlet PDF we count electronically. For scans and photographs we count from the finished translation's source-side draft or estimate from comparable documents, and the estimate on the quote is the price you pay even if the final count runs over. How this compares
UK agencies commonly quote from £30–35 per 250-word page or £0.10–0.18 per word for Turkish, with certification sometimes charged on top and VAT added. The same 250 words with us is about £15–17 at the standard tier. The difference is not a discount: it is an Ankara cost base and a company that has been translating at Turkish rates since 2008, delivering a UK-format certification. Where a Turkish notary or apostille is needed, that cost is the same for everyone and we pass it through.
If you are comparing quotes, ask each supplier three questions: what the unit is, whether certification is included, and whether VAT will be added at the end. The answers change a headline price more than the rate itself does.
Frequently asked questions
Do you count spaces?
No. The 1,000-character page excludes spaces. Some agencies count spaces (giving about 1,200–1,250 characters per equivalent page); when comparing quotes, check which basis is used.
Is there a minimum order?
One page per document, so £10.00 for a Turkish to English certificate and £6.50 for an English to Turkish one. Several short documents in one order are each counted separately.
Do you charge more for legal or medical documents?
No. The per-page rate is the same for all subject matter. Very poor-quality handwriting may take longer, which affects turnaround rather than price; we will tell you before starting.
Why is English to Turkish cheaper?
Translation into Turkish is done by native Turkish translators in Ankara at Turkish market rates. Translation into English involves a second, English-side review, which is reflected in the rate.
Is the quote binding?
Yes. The price on the quote is the price you pay, unless you add documents or change the tier. If our count was too high, you pay the lower figure.
