Mobile consulate (gezici konsolosluk) days in UK cities

A consular team travels to cities without a post to take passport, identity card and some notarial work. Dates are announced a few weeks ahead and fill quickly, and not every service can be done on the road.

What a mobile day is

Consular staff from London, Manchester or Edinburgh travel to a city with a large Turkish community but no permanent post, set up in a hired hall or a community centre, and work through pre-booked appointments for a day or two. It exists so that a family in Cardiff or Leicester does not have to spend a day each way for a passport renewal. The current figures are published on the official page linked from this update; check them there, because they change without notice.

What can be done there

Passport and identity card applications are the core of it, along with straightforward notarial acts and consular registration. What a mobile visit cannot do is anything that depends on systems or stock held at the post, and complex notarial work is often referred back. Ring before you travel and ask specifically about your act rather than assuming it is on the list.

Preparation, because there is no second chance

A mobile day has no slack in it. Bring originals, not photocopies, and bring the translation with the document where one is needed — a mobile team is not going to wait while you find one. Where the consulate requires a translation by a translator on its accredited list, that has to be arranged before the visit, not on the day. Where a Turkish authority will accept a translation notarised in Türkiye, we can prepare it in Ankara and send you the file. See consulate notary services for what each act needs, and the London consulate page for the appointment system.
