KEP — meaning and English translation
KEP (Kayıtlı Elektronik Posta) is Türkiye's registered electronic mail, a legally recognised e-mail service whose delivery and timing are certified by the provider.
Registered electronic mail is an e-mail system in which a licensed provider certifies who sent a message, to whom, when it was delivered and that its content was not altered. Turkish companies are required to hold a KEP address, and it appears on letterheads, trade registry records and signature circulars next to the tax number. Courts, enforcement offices and tax authorities may serve notice (tebligat) to a KEP address, and the delivery record is treated as proof of service.
We translate the term as “registered electronic mail (KEP)” and leave the address itself unchanged, as with any e-mail address. A KEP delivery report attached to a document is translated as “registered e-mail delivery record”, with its time stamps converted to British date style.
