The Turkish proof of address is the residence and other address document (yerleşim yeri ve diğer adres belgesi), still called ikametgâh by most people after the old certificate that neighbourhood headmen (muhtar) used to issue. Since the address registration system (Adres Kayıt Sistemi) was introduced in 2007 it has been drawn from the central population register, printed by any registry office (nüfus müdürlüğü) or downloaded free from e-Devlet with a barcode and a verification code. It shows your T.C. kimlik number and name, the registered address in its standardised Turkish form (province, district, neighbourhood, street, exterior door number, interior door number), the date on which that address was registered (tescil tarihi), and the date of the document. A version with history (tarihçeli) lists every previous registered address with its dates. A separate section shows any other address, which for a Turkish citizen who has registered a foreign address at a consulate is the address abroad.

Who asks for it in the UK
- Banks. Proof of address for an applicant who lives in Türkiye or has just arrived, for an international account, and in know-your-customer checks; banks typically want a document issued within the last three months. - Solicitors and conveyancers, verifying the address of a client in Türkiye who is buying or selling in the UK, giving a power of attorney or inheriting.
- HMRC, where a home in Türkiye bears on residence status, a split year or a non-resident landlord registration. See translations for HMRC.

- Pension providers and universities asking for a current overseas address.
What the translation must contain
Banks, solicitors and HMRC accept a translation certified in the gov.uk form quoted below, dated and signed with the translator's or company's name and contact details, and our certificate follows it with our registry number. Because the document is short, precision in the address is everything: mahalle is neighbourhood, cadde is avenue, sokak is street, dış kapı no is the building number and iç kapı no the flat number, and we label them rather than rearranging the address into English order, so that it matches the Turkish address a bank has on file. The registration date is translated as the date the address was registered, not the date you moved in, since the two differ and a reader may rely on it.
Why the document is queried
The register shows the address you last declared, and Turkish citizens abroad often leave a parent's address in place for years, so the document may not describe where you live. A bank comparing it with the address on your application will notice. If you have moved, update the register through e-Devlet or the consulate before ordering the translation. Old muhtar certificates with a rubber stamp are still met and can be translated, but a bank wanting a document less than three months old will not accept one. An apostille is not requested by any of the readers above; if a foreign authority asks, registry documents obtained through e-Devlet can generally be issued with an e-Apostil, and a paper copy is apostilled at the kaymakamlık.

The document is one page, £10.00, and the version with history rarely more than two. Certification adds nothing to the price, and no UK VAT is charged. Because it takes minutes to translate, we return the certified PDF the next working day and the same day with the fast option for files received before 11:00 UK time. Courier delivery of a paper copy from Ankara is £30; we have no UK office and no collection point.

Frequently asked questions
The bank asked for a utility bill. Will this document do instead?
Most UK banks list a government-issued residence document among acceptable proofs of address, and Turkish applicants have used this one with our translation to date. Ask the bank before ordering; if it insists on a bill, a Turkish electricity or water bill can be translated instead.
Can you write the address in English order?
We keep the Turkish order and label each part, because a reader who compares it with the address on your application or on a bill needs the two to match. An English-order version can be added in a note if a form requires it.
What is the tarihçeli version for?
It lists every address you have been registered at and the dates, which answers questions about where you lived in a given year, for instance from HMRC or a solicitor. Download it from e-Devlet in the same way as the plain version.
My document shows my parents' address, where I have not lived for years.
Then the register is out of date. Update your address through e-Devlet or at the consulate, download a fresh document and send us that one; translating the old one will only raise questions.
