e-Apostil — meaning and English translation
e-Apostil is Türkiye's electronic apostille, issued through e-Devlet since 2019 on criminal record certificates, court decisions, civil registry extracts and multilingual extracts.
Türkiye's e-Apostil service began in 2019 with criminal record certificates and court decisions, added civil registry extracts in June 2021 and multilingual birth, marriage and death extracts in December 2023. The applicant requests the apostille through e-Devlet or eapostil.gov.tr and receives a PDF in which the document and the apostille certificate are combined and secured with an electronic signature; the certificate can be verified by anyone through a QR code or the reference number. Because everything happens online, a citizen in the UK can obtain an apostilled document without visiting Türkiye or using a courier.
We render it as “electronic apostille (e-Apostil)” and translate the certificate's fields and verification wording exactly as we would a paper one.
UK bodies vary in how familiar they are with the electronic version, so we include the verification link in the translation; the FCDO issues its own e-Apostille for UK documents going the other way. See Turkish e-Apostil: getting apostilled documents online.
