Yerleşim yeri belgesi — meaning and English translation

The yerleşim yeri belgesi is the current Turkish residence certificate, printed from the national address register and showing a person's registered address and move-in date.

Turkish term: Yerleşim yeri belgesi · Last reviewed 31 August 2026

Since addresses were centralised in the Adres Kayıt Sistemi, the document that proves where someone lives in Türkiye is the yerleşim yeri ve diğer adres belgesi, usually shortened to yerleşim yeri belgesi. It is printed by the Nüfus Müdürlüğü or downloaded from e-Devlet with a barcode, and shows the registered address, the date the person moved there and, in the extended version, previous addresses. A change of address must be registered within a set period, so the certificate is treated as current on the date of issue only.

Our rendering is “certificate of place of residence”, shortened to “residence certificate” after the first mention. We add the Turkish name because UK caseworkers may already know the older term ikametgâh belgesi.

The Home Office uses it to establish where a sponsor or applicant lived at a given time, and banks and universities accept it as proof of address. See Turkish proof of address translation.
