Sectors Turkish ↔ English

Marketing agencies

Agencies come to us for two jobs: reaching Turkish-speaking audiences in Britain, who are concentrated in a handful of London boroughs, and taking a UK brand into Türkiye. Neither is achieved by translating the English literally.

Two different briefs

Targeting Turkish speakers in the UK is a community brief: the 2021 Census put Turkish second only to English in Enfield, Haringey and Hackney, so campaigns are geographically tight and word of mouth matters more than reach. Taking a brand into Türkiye is a market brief, with different competitors, different price expectations and different platforms. We write differently for each, and will say when a piece of English copy simply does not carry across.

Transcreation, not translation

Headlines, straplines and calls to action are rewritten to work in Turkish rather than converted word for word, usually with two or three options and a plain English back-translation so the client can sign off on meaning without reading Turkish. Puns and rhyme are replaced, not reproduced. Keyword work is research, not translation: the Turkish term people actually search for is often not the dictionary equivalent, and we return a keyword list with the reasoning attached. Longer assets — landing pages, e-mail sequences, product copy — are handled as website localisation with a brand glossary and tone guide agreed first. Turkish copy that already exists can be improved rather than replaced, which is quoted as revision.

What the rules require of translated advertising

UK advertising rules apply to an advertisement whatever language it is in, and a claim that is unsubstantiated in English is no better in Turkish. We keep qualifications, disclaimers and small print intact, translate them at full strength, and raise it with you when a Turkish rendering would strengthen a claim beyond what the English supports. For regulated sectors the safest route is to send the compliance-approved English rather than a working draft.

Working with an agency

Rates, volumes and turnaround are agreed in advance terms we agree with you in writing before the first job, with invoices to the agency and monthly billing where preferred. English into Turkish starts at £6.50 per 1,000-character page: a 600-word landing page is roughly £26, a set of ten short social posts is usually one or two pages, and a 90-second subtitled video is priced from the transcript. Transcreation of headlines is quoted per concept rather than per page, because the work is in the thinking rather than the word count.

Frequently asked questions

Can you provide back-translation for client sign-off?

Yes. A literal English rendering of the Turkish copy is supplied alongside it so a non-Turkish-speaking client can approve the meaning.

Do you do Turkish keyword research?

Yes, as a separate deliverable. It is research rather than translation, and it is quoted by scope.

Can you review Turkish copy written by someone else?

Yes, as a revision job. If it turns out to be machine output dressed up as copy, we say so and quote for rewriting instead of patching it.

Do you sign NDAs before a pitch?

Yes. Pre-launch material is treated as confidential by default and access is limited to the people working on it.

Send us the document and we will quote a fixed price
