UK ENIC translation waiver list: Turkish still requires translation
UK ENIC will waive the translation requirement for fourteen languages if you pay for its waiver service. Turkish is not one of them, so a Turkish diploma and transcript still need certified English translations.
How the waiver service works
UK ENIC assesses foreign qualifications and issues the Statement of Comparability that universities, regulators and employers ask for. Its normal rule is that documents not in English arrive with certified translations. Against that it sells a Translation Waiver Service, an extra charge on top of the assessment fee, under which its own assessors read the document in the original language instead. The service covers fourteen languages.
Turkish is not on the list
It never has been, and nothing in the current wording suggests it is being added. So an applicant with a Turkish lisans diploması, a yüksek lisans diploması or a transkript pays for the assessment and supplies translations. Paying for the waiver in the hope that Turkish is covered wastes the fee.
What to send
Send a legible scan of each original alongside a certified English translation that mirrors the layout, including the university seal, the rector's signature block and the grading scale printed on the back of many Turkish transcripts. Grades matter: leave the Turkish four-point figures as they appear and let the assessor convert them, rather than translating them into a British class. A diploma supplement, where your university issues one, is worth including because it carries the credit weightings the assessor is looking for. Our UK ENIC page lists the fees and timescales, and the guide to getting a Turkish degree recognised takes you through an application.
Frequently asked questions
Can I translate my transcript myself if I am fluent?
No. UK ENIC asks for a translation by a translator or translation company, with contact details, so that it can verify the work independently. A self-translation is refused whatever your language skills.
