Christmas and Bayram turnaround notice
We keep Turkish public holidays, not British ones, so our quiet weeks are not the ones you expect. What closes, what keeps running, and how far ahead to send work that needs a notary or an apostille.
Two calendars again
Our office is in Ankara, so the days we are shut are the Turkish national days and the two religious holidays, and the days you are shut are the British bank holidays. Over Christmas and the New Year we work normal hours; the constraint in that week is at your end, because UK courts, register offices, regulators and couriers are not operating and a translation delivered on 27 December sits unread. Around Ramazan Bayramı and Kurban Bayramı the reverse applies. Both move with the lunar calendar, roughly eleven days earlier each year, so last year's dates are no guide.The current figures are published on the official page linked from this update; check them there, because they change without notice.
What actually stops
Translation and certification are our own work and continue through most of it. What stops is anything that needs a third party in Türkiye: notary offices close for the Turkish holidays, and so do the kaymakamlık and valilik apostille counters. A notarised or apostilled file therefore loses whole days that a plain certified translation does not.
Planning it
If your deadline falls in a holiday week at either end, tell us when you order rather than when it becomes a problem, and send the source documents a week earlier than you otherwise would.
