Where London’s Turkish community actually is

About seven in ten British Turks live in London, but not evenly. In the 2021 Census, Turkish was the second most spoken main language in Enfield, where 6.3% of residents named it, ahead of Haringey at 4.9% and Hackney at 4.5%; across London as a whole the figure was 0.9%. UK-wide, 132,651 residents were born in Türkiye. That clustering is why this site keeps separate pages for Enfield, Haringey, Hackney, Islington, Waltham Forest and south London instead of one page repeating itself.

What the Consulate General in Knightsbridge already does for you

The Consulate General of Türkiye in London is at Rutland Lodge, Rutland Gardens, Knightsbridge SW7 1BW. It serves most of England and Wales; the north of England has its own post in Manchester, and Scotland and Northern Ireland are covered from Edinburgh, so confirm which post holds your postcode before you book. For registration work the London consulate’s guidance states that no outside sworn translation is requested for British passports, birth certificates or marriage certificates: its own staff deal with those. Do not buy a Turkish translation of a full birth certificate before a birth registration appointment. Where an outside translation is required — a GRO single-status certificate, or a DBS certificate in a citizenship file — the consulate expects a translator from its own accredited list, and we are not on that list. How work travels between London and Ankara

We hold no London address. Nothing is dropped off, nothing is collected, and nobody meets you at the consulate unless you have booked interpreting. You photograph or scan the document, we quote, and the certified PDF returns by e-mail, usually within one to two working days from Turkish into English. If a receiving body insists on paper, the stamped original leaves Ankara by courier and reaches a London address in two to four working days for £30. Most Home Office, university and bank submissions are uploads, so the PDF ends the matter.
