GPhC — explained for Turkish readers
The General Pharmaceutical Council registers pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain. Turkish pharmacists register through the OSPAP route.
The GPhC is the regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and registered pharmacy premises in England, Scotland and Wales; Northern Ireland has its own Pharmaceutical Society. A pharmacist with a Turkish eczacılık degree is treated as an overseas-qualified applicant: after an eligibility assessment, the route is a one-year Overseas Pharmacists' Assessment Programme (OSPAP) at a UK university, a period of foundation training, then the registration assessment, before a place on the register.
Türkiye regulates the profession differently. The Sağlık Bakanlığı licenses the pharmacy and registers the diploma, and membership of the Türk Eczacıları Birliği is compulsory for pharmacy owners, but there is no single professional register that also covers technicians and premises under one roof.
