Course descriptions (ders içerikleri, sometimes ders tanımları or müfredat) set out what each module of a Turkish degree covered: the course code and title, credits and ECTS, weekly hours split into lectures, practicals and laboratory (teorik, uygulama, laboratuvar), the aims, the week-by-week topics, the assessment method and the set texts. Most Turkish universities publish them on their website in a Bologna information package (bilgi paketi), often in both Turkish and English. When a UK body wants a certified set, the department prints the descriptions for the modules on your transcript and the head of department or the faculty secretary stamps and signs each page (bölüm başkanlığı onaylı ders içerikleri).
Volume is the defining feature. A full degree has forty to sixty modules, and a printed set can run to fifty pages or more. We translate the stamped Turkish set you send, keep each module's structure, and use the same course titles as in your transcript translation so that a UK reader can move between the two without confusion.
When a UK body asks for it
- Universities, when you transfer part-way through a degree or apply for advanced standing and the admissions office needs to match Turkish modules to its own before granting exemptions.
- The HCPC, which asks international applicants for detailed information on the course they completed, including content and hours, before assessing an application. See translations for HCPC registration.
- The Architects Registration Board and the Engineering Council's licensed institutions, which examine programme content when assessing a Turkish architecture or engineering degree.
- Accountancy bodies such as ACCA and ICAEW, which decide exemptions module by module against a syllabus.
- The NMC and GPhC, where a training programme's hours and subjects are part of the eligibility assessment.
What the translation must contain
Each body applies the gov.uk standard quoted below, and the certificate we attach confirms accuracy, gives the date, and identifies Hacettepe Translation with its Ankara Trade Registry number, address, contact details and a signature. Because a course-description set is usually a selection rather than a whole document, the certificate lists the modules translated by code and title and states that each module is translated in full. That satisfies a body that has asked for specific modules and prevents a challenge that the translation is incomplete.
If the university's own English descriptions exist online, a UK body may accept those once the department has stamped them; we cannot certify an English text we did not produce, so ask the body first and save the cost of translation where you can. Selecting modules and keeping the cost down
Few bodies need every module. The HCPC and ARB are interested in the modules relevant to the profession, and an exemption application concerns only the modules being claimed. Ask the body which modules it wants, have the department stamp those pages, and send us that set. We quote a fixed price after counting the characters, and we can translate in batches if a body asks for more later, keeping the same terminology throughout.
Price and turnaround
Course descriptions are priced per 1,000 characters like every other document, at £10.00 per page with certification included and no UK VAT. A typical module runs to one or two pages, so a set of ten modules comes to £100.00 to £200.00 and a complete syllabus of fifty modules to a figure in the hundreds. For sets of that size the economy option, 20 per cent less over twice the time, is usually the right choice, and we say so in the quote. Standard turnaround is 3 to 5 working days for ten modules and 7 to 10 for a full syllabus; the fast option halves that. The translation arrives as a certified PDF with the modules in transcript order, and a signed hard copy by courier from Ankara is £30. We have no UK office and cannot offer collection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have only the modules the HCPC asked for translated?
Yes. The certificate lists the modules translated and states that each is complete, which is what the HCPC and similar bodies expect when they have requested specific modules.
My university's website has the descriptions in English. Can I use those?
Often, if the department stamps a printout to show they are the university's own text. Ask the receiving body whether it accepts that; if it does, you need no translation from us. We cannot certify the university's English text ourselves.
How do you count the price for fifty modules?
By characters, after you send the stamped pages. We give a fixed quote and recommend the economy option for large sets. Translating in two batches, essential modules first, is also possible.
Will the module titles match my transcript translation?
Yes, if we translated the transcript or you send it to us. We keep a glossary for your degree so that every document uses the same English title for each course.
The descriptions give weekly hours rather than ECTS. Is that a problem?
No. We translate whatever the document states, hours or credits, and the body converts as it needs. Where both appear, both are kept.
