GMC — explained for Turkish readers

The GMC is the statutory regulator for doctors across the UK. It maintains the medical register, grants the licence to practise, sets the standards in Good Medical Practice and investigates fitness-to-practise complaints. A doctor trained in Türkiye applies to it after passing the PLAB tests, now aligned to the UK Medical Licensing Assessment, or through a recognised postgraduate qualification, and must prove identity, primary medical qualification, internship and good standing.

Türkiye splits these tasks: the Sağlık Bakanlığı registers diplomas and authorises practice, while the Türk Tabipleri Birliği is the professional body. The GMC combines register and regulator in one, and its register is public.

For documents not in English the GMC asks for a copy in the original language and a complete translation made directly from it, stamped and signed by the translator or translation service with contact details.
