Turkish healthcare produces a family of reports with distinct names and uses. The discharge summary (epikriz) records an admission: history, findings, diagnoses with ICD-10 codes, treatment, operation and discharge plan. The medical board report (sağlık kurulu raporu, called heyet raporu in everyday speech) is signed by three or more specialists and is used for decisions that need more than one doctor, such as a disability assessment with a percentage rating (engel oranı), fitness for work or driving, or entitlement to long-term medication. A single doctor's status report (durum bildirir rapor) certifies a condition or a sick leave (istirahat raporu) for a stated number of days. Around these sit the operation note (ameliyat raporu), pathology and imaging reports, laboratory results, and the forensic medical report (adli rapor) written after an assault or an accident for the prosecutor. Reports come from state, university and private hospitals, and most can now be downloaded from the personal health record system e-Nabız through e-Devlet, with a barcode and an electronic signature.
We translate headers and patient identifiers, the clinical narrative, diagnoses with the ICD codes left as printed, laboratory tables with their units unchanged, drug names with the international non-proprietary name added in brackets, the doctors' names and diploma numbers, stamps and the e-signature statement. Handwriting is rendered where legible and marked where not. Nothing is interpreted, corrected or softened.
Who needs a Turkish medical report in English

- DWP, for benefit claims supported by evidence from abroad, and employers, where a sick-leave report covers absence during a stay in Türkiye.
- Courts, in personal injury and clinical negligence claims and in family cases where health or capacity is in issue.
What the translation must contain
The NHS sets no certification rule, and insurers, the Home Office and DWP apply the gov.uk wording quoted below, which our certificate meets with the date, a signature and our company details. Medical translation is done by translators who work in clinical texts and is read a second time before release, as described on our team and quality process. Two conventions are worth knowing. Turkish abbreviations are expanded once and then given in the English form (BT becomes CT, MR stays MRI, EKG becomes ECG). And the disability percentage on a board report is translated as a Turkish rating with a note that it is not a UK assessment, because DWP and employers otherwise read it as one.
Details that need care
Drug brand names differ: a Turkish report that says Parol or Coraspin means paracetamol or aspirin, and the international name in brackets is what a UK clinician needs. Dates in day-month-year order are written out in full, since a laboratory date of 05.03 read as 3 May rather than 5 March can change a clinical timeline. Forensic reports use a fixed vocabulary, such as basit tıbbi müdahale ile giderilebilir (treatable by simple medical intervention), that carries legal weight in Turkish criminal law and is translated with the Turkish retained. Reports are never apostilled, and no UK reader has asked. Files are handled under our confidentiality and data protection policy.
Price and turnaround
A discharge summary is 1 to 3 pages of 1,000 characters, £10.00 to £30.00; a board report 1 or 2; a full hospital file 10 to 30 pages, for which the economy option, 20 per cent less for double the time, is usually chosen. Certification is included in these figures and no UK VAT is charged by us. Single reports come back in 1 to 2 working days as a certified PDF, and same day with the fast option for a file received before 11:00 UK time; long files take 3 to 5. A hard copy by courier from Ankara is £30, and collection is not offered because we have no UK office.

Frequently asked questions
Does my GP need a certified translation?
No rule requires it, and a GP will read a plain translation. Certification is included in our price, so you get the certified version anyway and can use the same document for an insurer or the Home Office later.
My travel insurer wants the medical report and the itemised bill.
Send both. The report is translated on this page's terms and the hospital bill as an invoice; one certificate covers the set.
Will you explain what the diagnosis means?
No. We translate what the doctor wrote, with codes and names a UK clinician can act on, and add nothing of our own beyond marked notes on abbreviations and terms. Interpretation is for your GP.
The report gives a disability rating of 60 per cent. Is that recognised by DWP?
It is a Turkish rating under Turkish rules and DWP makes its own assessment. The translation presents it as such, which is more useful to your claim than a bare number.
Is an e-Nabız download acceptable?
UK readers have accepted e-Nabız reports with our translation to date. The download carries a barcode and an e-signature note that we translate so the reader can verify it. Read are e-Devlet documents accepted in the UK.
