Turkish passport and ID fees abroad 2026

Passport and identity card charges are fixed in the Turkish fees legislation each January and converted into pounds by the missions in the UK. Book early: the appointment, not the fee, is the scarce resource.

What you pay

A Turkish passport carries two charges: the book fee, which depends on the validity period you choose, and the stamp duty. The identity card has a single charge, with a replacement fee if the old one is lost. Both are fixed annually in the Turkish fees legislation and converted into sterling by each mission, so the amount is announced rather than negotiated. The current figures are published on the official page linked from this update; check them there, because they change without notice.

Book the slot first

Appointments at the London, Manchester and Edinburgh posts are taken through the consular appointment system and, for passports and identity cards, are the bottleneck. Slots for a renewal in the school holidays are gone weeks ahead. If you are travelling to Türkiye and your passport expires while you are there, deal with it in the UK; renewing inside Türkiye means a nüfus müdürlüğü appointment and a different queue.

The card that trips up property owners

The new-type TC kimlik kartı is required for a tapu power of attorney at the consulate. An old paper nüfus cüzdanı is not accepted for that act, and people discover this at the counter with a sale waiting. If you own property in Türkiye and have not renewed, do the card and the power of attorney as two appointments in that order. See the London consulate page and consulate notary services.
