Statement of comparability (UK ENIC) — explained for Turkish readers

A UK ENIC document stating which UK qualification level a foreign qualification compares to. Advisory, unlike a YÖK denklik, but widely requested by employers.

Turkish term: denklik belgesi (YÖK denkliğine en yakın karşılık, ancak bağlayıcı değildir) · Last reviewed 31 August 2026

A statement of comparability is issued by UK ENIC, the national agency for recognising overseas qualifications, and states the UK level to which a foreign award compares: a Turkish lisans, for example, to a bachelor's degree, a lise diploması to A-level standard. Employers, some regulators and Skilled Worker sponsors ask for it; universities usually make their own assessment. It is applied for online and issued for a fee.

The Turkish reader will think of YÖK denklik, but the two differ in force. A denklik belgesi is a binding administrative decision that lets you use the foreign degree in Türkiye; a statement of comparability is advice that a UK body may adopt or ignore. Verification of authenticity is a separate UK ENIC service.

UK ENIC requires certified translations of any document not in English, and Turkish is not among the languages its translation waiver covers. See translations for a UK ENIC statement of comparability.
