Noter onaylı tercüme — meaning and English translation
Noter onaylı tercüme is a translation made by a notary-sworn translator and certified by a Turkish notary, the form Turkish offices require for foreign documents.
A notarised translation in Türkiye is a notarial act (Notaries Law Regulation, Article 96). The sworn translator signs each page, the notary binds translation and source copy together, adds a certificate stating that the translation was made by a translator on the notary's roll, applies the seal and records the act in the register. The notary's fee is set by tariff and depends on page count.
We translate the phrase as “notarised translation”, and where the distinction matters we add “(certified by a Turkish notary)”. The same English term is used for a translation whose translator's declaration has been witnessed by a UK notary public, but the two are not interchangeable: the Turkish version is what a Turkish registry, court, university or SGK office expects for a UK document.
For UK bodies it is more than they ask for; the ordinary certified translation suffices. We produce the Turkish form in Ankara: notarised translation in Türkiye.
