Long-form (full) birth certificate — explained for Turkish readers
The full copy of a birth entry in England and Wales, showing the parents' names, occupations and address. The short version shows only the child.
A birth registered in England and Wales can be copied in two forms. The short certificate gives the child's name, sex, date and place of birth and nothing else. The long form, also called the full certificate, reproduces the whole register entry: the parents' names, the mother's maiden name, their occupations and address at the time, and the informant. Almost every process that traces parentage, including passport applications, Turkish consular registration and citizenship through a parent, needs the long form.
Turkish readers are used to parentage appearing on everything, since a nüfus kayıt örneği and even the ID card carry the parents' names. The idea that a certificate might omit them is unfamiliar, and it is a common reason a short certificate is sent back.
The Turkish Consulate lists the British parent's full birth certificate among the documents for registering a UK marriage. We translate it into Turkish as a UK full birth certificate translation.
