Faaliyet belgesi — meaning and English translation
A faaliyet belgesi is a certificate from a Turkish chamber of commerce or trade registry confirming that a company is registered and currently active.
A faaliyet belgesi is issued on request by the chamber of commerce or industry with which a company is registered, or by the trade registry office, and it states the company's name, registry and chamber numbers, address, field of activity, capital and the date of registration, together with confirmation that the company is still recorded as active. It is dated and normally accepted for a few months only. Tenders, bank account openings and foreign company formations all ask for one.
We translate it as “certificate of activity (faaliyet belgesi)”. In a translator's note we add that it serves the purpose of a certificate of good standing, but we do not use that phrase as the title, since it would suggest the document was issued by a registrar under English company law.
UK banks and procurement teams dealing with a Turkish supplier are the usual recipients. See certificate of activity translation.
