Companies House — explained for Turkish readers
The UK registrar of companies. It incorporates companies, holds their filed accounts, officers and confirmation statements, and makes the record public free of charge.
Companies House is the executive agency that registers companies in the UK and keeps their public records: the certificate of incorporation, articles of association, annual accounts, confirmation statements, directors and persons with significant control. Anyone can search the register free of charge, and most filings are made online within a day. It does not tax companies or check that their business is real; that is HMRC's job.
In Türkiye the same functions sit with the ticaret sicil müdürlüğü at the local chamber of commerce and the Türkiye Ticaret Sicili Gazetesi, where registrations are published. A Turkish reader used to obtaining a faaliyet belgesi or a sicil gazetesi extract will find that the UK offers a certificate of good standing and a printed register extract instead, both issued by Companies House on request.
