Certified translation — explained for Turkish readers
A translation accompanied by a signed, dated statement from the translator or translation company confirming it is a true and accurate translation of the original.
In the UK, “certified translation” describes a translation to which the translator or translation company has added a written statement: that it is a true and accurate translation of the original, the date, and the certifier's full name and contact details. Those three items come from GOV.UK's guidance on certifying a document and are what the Home Office, HM Passport Office and the health regulators expect to see.
The nearest Turkish concept is yeminli tercüme, but the two are not the same. A Turkish sworn translation rests on an oath recorded with a notary; a UK certified translation rests only on the certifier's own signed declaration, with no notary involved. If you already hold a Turkish notarised translation, check whether it carries the English statement, because most do not.
