ATC — explained for Turkish readers
The Association of Translation Companies, the UK trade body for translation businesses. Accredited members may use the ATC certification stamp; it also certifies ISO 17100.
ATC, the Association of Translation Companies, is the UK trade association for translation and language-service businesses rather than for individual translators. Membership has two tiers: associate, and accredited, which requires a trading history, accounts, professional indemnity insurance, references and a quality system. Only accredited members may use the ATC certification stamp on translations. ATC also runs a certification scheme for ISO 17100, the standard that requires qualified translators and an independent second-person revision of every translation.
Like the ITI and CIOL seals, the ATC stamp is a mark of membership. No UK authority requires it, and GOV.UK's certification rule is satisfied by the statement itself. The nearest Turkish body is the Çeviri İşletmeleri Derneği, which likewise has no legal certification role.
