Adli sicil kaydı — meaning and English translation
An adli sicil kaydı is the Turkish criminal record certificate, listing any convictions held on the judicial register, obtained from e-Devlet or a courthouse.
The judicial register held by the Ministry of Justice records final convictions, and the adli sicil kaydı is the certificate printed from it. For most people it states “adli sicil kaydı yoktur”, no record. Convictions that have been served and later removed from the current record move to the arşiv kaydı, which is shown on the certificate only when the purpose requires it. The certificate can be printed from e-Devlet with a verification code or issued at a courthouse, and since 2019 it can be apostilled electronically.
We render it as “criminal record certificate (adli sicil kaydı)” and the archive section as “archive record”. The purpose field, the personal details and the statement of no record are translated word for word, since caseworkers compare them against the application.
