How we approach technical text
Technical translation is judged on consistency and precision rather than style. Before a large project we agree a glossary with you: the terms your engineers use, product names that stay in the source language, units and tolerances, and any client or standard-specific vocabulary (TSE, BS EN, ISO references). The glossary is enforced with translation-memory software, so a phrase translated once in the operating manual appears identically in the quick-start guide and the safety leaflet. Warnings and safety instructions are translated to the conventions of the target market: imperative, short, and in the order of the source. Drawings and diagrams are handled by translating the callouts in a table or directly in the DWG or InDesign file if you provide it. A second linguist checks numbers, units, part numbers and cross-references; a technical text with one wrong figure is worse than no translation.
Formats
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, FrameMaker, XML, XLIFF, PDF (with re-creation of the layout where the source file is not available) and structured formats for content management systems. We return files in the format you sent, with layout adjusted for Turkish, which runs about 15–20% longer than English.
What it costs
Short documents are priced per page like our other services: from £10.00 per page Turkish to English and from £6.50 per page English to Turkish, on 1,000 characters of source text. Manuals and larger projects are quoted per project after we have analysed the files, with a reduced rate for repeated and near-repeated segments identified by the translation memory; on a manual family with shared content this often halves the cost of the second and later documents. Certification is added free where a customs broker, distributor or authority wants a certified translation of a test report or conformity document. No UK VAT is charged.
Turnaround
About 2,500 words per translator per working day, plus revision. A 40-page manual is typically 5–7 working days; a team of translators sharing one memory can shorten this for urgent product launches. Short data sheets and certificates in 1–2 working days.

Limits
We translate; we do not certify conformity. Whether a product meets UKCA or CE requirements, and whether the translated instructions satisfy the relevant product regulation, is for your compliance adviser or notified body. We are happy to work from their checklist.

Frequently asked questions
Do you use machine translation for technical manuals?
Only if you choose the post-editing tier, and never for safety-critical text. Standard technical translation is human translation with translation-memory support, which is a different thing: the memory reuses your own approved translations, not a machine’s guesses.
Can you work in our InDesign or CAD files?
Yes for InDesign, FrameMaker and most XML-based formats. For CAD drawings we usually translate callouts in a table for your drafter to place, or in the file if it is exported to a text-bearing format.
Do UK importers legally need English instructions?
Consumer and machinery product regulations in Great Britain require instructions and safety information in English. The exact scope depends on the product regulation; your compliance adviser will confirm what must be translated.
Will the Turkish be understood in Türkiye and by Turkish speakers in the UK?
Yes. We write standard Turkish as used in Türkiye; there is no separate UK Turkish variant for technical writing.
