English to Turkish translation

English to Turkish translation of UK documents for the Turkish Consulate, Turkish authorities, courts and companies, delivered certified, notarised in Ankara or apostilled as the receiving body requires. From £6.50 per page.

Last reviewed 31 August 2026

What the receiving body requires

“İngiliz makamlarından alınan herhangi bir resmi evrak (Pasaport, Doğum Belgesi, Evlilik Belgesi) için dışarıdan yeminli tercüme talep edilmemektedir.” (No outside sworn translation is requested for any UK-issued public document such as a passport, birth certificate or marriage certificate.)

Who this is for

Turkish citizens in the UK dealing with Türkiye: registering a marriage, divorce or birth, recognising a UK degree, buying or inheriting property, paying the military service fee, buying back SGK years, setting up a company. British spouses and partners applying for Turkish citizenship or a residence permit. UK businesses selling into Türkiye or contracting with Turkish suppliers. The reader is in Türkiye or at a Turkish consulate, so the translation is in standard Turkish and formatted to Turkish conventions.

Choose the right level of certification

Unlike Turkish to English work, where one certification standard covers almost every UK body, English to Turkish translations need different treatment depending on who will read them:

  • Plain translation for internal use, correspondence, marketing and contracts between parties who simply need to understand each other.
  • Certified translation with our statement, where a Turkish company, bank or school wants a translation from a registered translation company but no notarial act.
  • Notarised translation in Ankara for any Turkish public authority: nüfus, YÖK, SGK, tapu, courts, trade registry, askerlik. This is the standard we recommend whenever a state office is involved.
  • Apostilled notarised translation when the document goes on to a third country or the office asks for it.

One important exception: the Turkish Consulate in London handles UK passports, birth certificates and marriage certificates itself for its own registrations and states that no outside sworn translation is requested for them. Do not pay for a translation of those documents unless they are going to an office in Türkiye.

Documents we translate most

  • Decree absolute or final order, deed poll, certificate of naturalisation, certificate of no impediment, DBS and ACRO certificates.
  • Degree certificates, transcripts, diploma supplements, GCSE and A-level certificates, school letters, student status letters.
  • Employer letters, P60 and P45, employment contracts, HMRC documents, pension statements, council tax and utility bills, bank statements and reference letters.
  • Lasting and general powers of attorney, wills and grants of probate, court orders, statutory declarations and affidavits.
  • Certificate of incorporation, good standing, Companies House filings, articles of association, commercial invoices with origin declarations.
  • UK driving licence, V5C logbook, GP letters and medical reports.

Each has its own page under UK documents into Turkish describing the Turkish office’s expectations.

Turkish conventions we apply

Dates in day.month.year, decimal commas and thousands points, currency after the figure, UK institutions named in English with a Turkish gloss on first mention, and legal terms matched to Turkish equivalents rather than calques: “decree absolute” becomes “kesinleşmiş boşanma kararı”, not a word-for-word rendering a Turkish judge would not recognise. Names containing Q, W or X are kept as in the passport, with a note where a Turkish registry may adapt them. The dates, numbers and currency page sets out the full convention.

Price and turnaround

From £6.50 per page (1,000 characters of English source text). A UK birth certificate, degree certificate or one-page letter is a single page; a decree absolute is one to two pages; a lasting power of attorney runs to ten or more. Economy is 20% less, express 60% more. Standard delivery is about one working day for short documents, two for anything over five pages. Notarisation and apostille add their own days and fees, itemised on the notarised translation page. No UK VAT is charged.

Before you order

If the document is a UK public document going to a Turkish state office, get the FCDO apostille first. We translate the apostille with the document, and a translation done without it will have to be redone. If you are not sure whether your document qualifies for the £35 e-Apostille, ask us and we will check the list.

What you receive

  • Turkish translation in standard Turkish, Turkish date and number conventions
  • Certification statement, or an Ankara notarial certificate where a state office is involved
  • Apostille on the notarised translation where required (£15)
  • PDF by e-mail; original by courier to the UK or within Türkiye
  • Advice before ordering on whether the consulate will translate the document itself

Frequently asked questions

Does the Turkish Consulate need my UK birth certificate translated?

Not for registering the birth or marriage at the consulate: the London consulate states it handles UK passports, birth and marriage certificates in-house. A translation is needed when the same certificate goes to an office in Türkiye.

Certified or notarised: which do I need for Türkiye?

For any Turkish state office, notarised. For a private company, school or bank in Türkiye, certified is often enough, but ask them. We will tell you which one we think fits when we quote.

Can you translate into Turkish for business without certification?

Yes. Contracts, product information, correspondence and marketing are delivered as plain translations, edited or unedited files, without a statement. See business and company documents.

Do you handle the FCDO apostille?

We cannot apply to the FCDO from Ankara, but we can order it through a UK partner at the FCDO fee plus £20 handling, or you apply yourself on GOV.UK. Either way, apostille before translation.
