NMC overseas route: document requirements update
The overseas route runs through an identity check, a computer-based test and a practical examination. Certified English translations are required at the identity stage, and the fees and test windows change.
The shape of the route
A nurse qualified in Türkiye registers with the Nursing and Midwifery Council through the overseas route: an eligibility and identity stage, then a computer-based test of competence, then a practical objective structured clinical examination taken at an approved centre in the UK. Each stage carries its own fee, and the fees and test windows are revised, so take the current figures from the NMC rather than from a recruitment agency. The current figures are published on the official page linked from this update; check them there, because they change without notice.
Documents at the identity stage
The NMC asks for certified English translations produced by a certified translator. In practice that means the lisans diploması or the nursing school diploma, the transkript, the registration document held in Türkiye, and an adli sicil kaydı, each with a translation carrying the accuracy statement, date, name, signature and contact details. Photographic identity and evidence of any name change complete the set; where a name changed on marriage the evlenme cüzdanı is the document that ties the record together.
Sequence
Have the adli sicil apostilled in Türkiye before it is translated, and keep it recent, since the NMC and later employers both look at its date. Register your qualification details exactly as the diploma prints them. See the NMC page and the guide for Turkish nurses registering with the NMC.
