HM Passport Office fees 2026
Passport fees are set by regulations and differ between online and paper applications. For a first British passport supported by Turkish documents, the translations matter more to the timetable than the fee does.
The fee
HM Passport Office charges a standard fee for an adult passport and a lower one for a child, with paper applications costing more than online ones. The current figures are published on the official page linked from this update; check them there, because they change without notice. UK.
Why a first passport takes longer than a renewal
A renewal is a check against an existing record. A first application, typically for a child born in the UK to Turkish parents, is an examination of entitlement, and the examiner works from the parents' status at the date of birth. That is where Turkish documents enter: the parents' marriage certificate, a nüfus kayıt örneği showing the family entry, and sometimes evidence of a parent's settled status at the time. Caseworker guidance is explicit that foreign documents not in English have to be supplied with translations, so a bundle sent without them is returned rather than assessed.
Getting the names right
The commonest reason a first application is queried is a name that appears in three forms across four documents, usually because Turkish characters were dropped somewhere. Decide on one spelling, keep it consistent, and let the translation show the Turkish original as it is printed.
