Appendix FM-SE — explained for Turkish readers
The Immigration Rules appendix listing the specified evidence for family-route applications, including the rule on how foreign documents must be translated.
Appendix FM-SE (“specified evidence”) accompanies Appendix FM and states, document by document, what a family-route applicant must provide: which bank statements, payslips, employer letters and tenancy papers count, how recent they must be, and in what form. A caseworker can refuse an application where a document lacks an element the appendix requires, even if the underlying facts are not in doubt.
Paragraph 1(j) is the part that concerns translation. A document not in English or Welsh must come with a full translation that can be independently verified, giving confirmation of accuracy, the date, the translator's name and signature and contact details; and, for leave to remain or ILR, certification by a qualified translator with details of the translator's or company's credentials. That last line is why our certificate page carries company registration details rather than a bare signature.
