Certification and acceptance FAQs
What our certification says, which bodies accept it, what we are and are not (no ITI, CIOL or ATC membership; a registered Turkish company since 2008), and what happens if a receiving body rejects a translation.
In the UK a translation is certified by a written statement rather than by a licence, and our certification follows the GOV.UK wording: a confirmation that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original, the date, and the full name and contact details of the translation company, with our Ankara registration details for the credentials line that leave to remain and ILR applications require. We are candid about what we are: a translation company registered in Ankara since 2008 working with notary-sworn translators, not a member of ITI, CIOL or ATC. Frequently asked questions
Is your certified translation accepted by the Home Office?
The Home Office has no approved list; it checks that the translation carries the required statement, date and contact details, and for leave to remain and ILR the translator's or company's credentials. Our certificate is built around those rules and has been used in our clients' visa, ILR and naturalisation applications. We do not promise acceptance, because no translator can; we do promise that the certification meets the published requirements and that we re-issue free if a body objects to its format.
Are you members of ITI, CIOL or ATC?
No. Our credentials are a company registered with the Ankara Trade Registry (no. 256268) since 2008, translators sworn before Turkish notaries, and a second-linguist revision on every certified job. No UK public body requires a professional-body seal; the rules are about the content of the certification. See credentials and company registration.
Does it matter that you are based in Türkiye?
Not for UK rules, which say what the certification must contain and nothing about where the translator sits. Our certificate carries a UK contact number and e-mail as well as the Ankara address, so a caseworker can verify it easily. For documents going to Türkiye, being in Ankara is an advantage: we produce the notarised translation Turkish bodies want directly.
What exactly is on the certificate page?
The statement that the translation is a true and accurate translation of the original document, the language pair, the number of pages, the date, the company's legal name and registration details, address, telephone, e-mail, a signature for the company, and our stamp. Every translated page is also stamped. A sample is at sample: our certification statement.
Do you provide the “qualified translator” certification for ILR?
Yes. Appendix FM-SE asks for certification by a qualified translator and details of the translator's or translation company's credentials for leave to remain and ILR. Our certificate provides the company credentials; if a caseworker asks for more, we supply a letter at no charge.
Which bodies have accepted your translations?
To date our translations have been used with the Home Office (visas, ILR, naturalisation), HM Passport Office, register offices, UK ENIC, UCAS and universities, the GMC and NMC, solicitors, courts, banks and employers, and with Turkish authorities through the Ankara notarised route. We list bodies on each document page; we do not claim any body has “approved” us, because none does that.
What if a receiving body rejects the translation?
Send us the rejection wording. If it concerns the format of our certification, we re-issue free. If it concerns a translation error, we correct it free and apologise. If it concerns the underlying document (too old, wrong type, no apostille), we tell you what to obtain and translate the new document at the normal price. Can you certify a translation done by someone else?
Yes, after reviewing it against the source. If it is accurate we certify it at the revision rate; if it needs substantial work we translate afresh and tell you before starting. We never certify a translation we have not checked.
Do Turkish authorities accept a UK-style certified translation?
Usually not. Turkish bodies want a translation by a notary-sworn translator certified by a Turkish notary, or a consulate-listed translator with the consulate's certification. For Türkiye we therefore produce the notarised translation in Ankara rather than the UK-style certificate.
